Controlling Water Flow:
Most GeoTextile fabric forms offer the following advantages to older systems:
- Concrete Linings Consisting of Hydraulic Resistant Patterned Surfaces
- Reduced Flow Velocity
- Engineered” Hydraulic System
- Reduced Discharge Turbulence
- Maximized Drainage
GeoTextile fabric forms have been installed in millions of application sites worldwide, performing superbly even in highly severe applications. They have out-performed older methods of erosion control and proven to be the superior method for erosion control on concrete slope paving and rip rap.
Thousands of successful installs, coupled with extensive testing of our GeoTextile products have shown that our fabric-formed concrete erosion protection methods are superior to any other method, including older method. Our concrete linings and mats offer superior stability in dealing with high velocity flows.
GeoTextile fabric-formed concrete is more efficient than rip rap and concrete slope paving because of it’s ability to negate uplift forces with it’s flow through pores that reduce channel speed, and by taking on the shape of the ground underneath the mattresses or linings reduces any underscour..
Reduced Uplift Pressures
Uplift pressures are more damaging to older methods of concrete applied to slopes than to our GeoTextile linings and concrete mats and more likely to cause failure to a concrete slope. Because our GeoTextile fabric can be shaped with built-in drainage, the soil underneath is more likely to remain stable, reducing chances of underscore.
Adaptation to Soil Contours
Because the GeoTextile fabric forms have the concrete pumped into the sections on-site they can conform to the underlying contour as they are being filled, thus creating a tighter bond that had less chance of underscour. GeoTextile forms are connected by fabric perimeters and some with embedded cables and are able to adapt to changing contours of the soil.
Fabric forms disturb the environment very little. Furthermore, GeoTextile linings and mats do not have dangerous juttings that could harm people, mammals, animals, vehicles, or boats.
Ease of Installation
GeoTextile fabric forms are delivered to the site location ready to install and fill with concrete using a small line concrete pump with no further forming required with the required depth and contours already built into the forms.
Since they do not require steel reinforcement or finishing, costs can be saved on the size of the manpower needed. GeoTextile fabric concrete mattresses can also be installed over GeoTextile tubes without need of first dewatering the tubes, saving more time and money.
Because these GeoTextile fabric forms are do not weigh a lot, they are cost effective to ship anywhere. The concrete can be purchased near job site to keep shipping costs down. A few common construction tools and a concrete pump is all that is needed. The concrete can be pumped to the fabric forms from a distance of up to 800 feet. Shipping is less, manpower is less, and equipment for installation is minimal, making this method the ideal method of erosion control or breakwater armoring. This method of erosion control and breakwater armoring has seen phenomenal growth due to cost effectiveness and site performance.
